  • WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE INTERIOR DECORATION ESSENTIALS 101 AND STYLING ESSENTIALS 101 COURSE?  

    The Interior Decoration Essentials 101 course provides the key concepts and terms used by professional Interior Decorators, with an insight into colour schemes, soft furnishings, window coverings, lighting and more. You will learn how to follow a client brief to create inspirational interiors for their dream home. The Styling Essentials 101 course focuses on styling a property to sell. This course is designed to provide an overview of the tools, information and processes employed by professional interior stylists. You will learn how to work with defining a space, integrating furniture or providing furniture and homewares to create a dream home for someone to purchase.

  • SHOULD COURSES BE DONE IN A PARTICULAR ORDER?  

    Each course is designed to be independent of one another, meaning you can do one, or more than one course according to your requirements. Each course has a different focus and our Course Advisor can guide you on which course to begin with if you are uncertain.

  • DO I NEED DESIGN EXPERIENCE TO COMMENCE A COURSE?  

    Each of our courses start with introductory training in the elements and principles of design, which is the perfect way for any novice to begin to understand design and a decorators' intent when developing an interior scheme. For those who are more advanced, this is great way to reinforce the basics and creative concept thinking.

  • HOW DO I ENROL?  

    There are two ways you can apply for a course at the Coco Republic Design School. The first is online with payment by credit card. Simply click on the Enrol Now link in the course of your choice. You will be directed to your shopping cart to proceed to the checkout. Please note that this facility only takes full payment for the course. The second option is by phone on 1300 000 220 or by emailing designschool@cocorepublic.com.au with your contact details for one of our course advisors to contact you by phone. We do allow students to pay a $250 deposit to secure their spot in a course with full payment required two weeks before the start of your course. We also offer payment plans with ZipMoney.

  • WHAT LEARNING MATERIALS ARE INCLUDED IN THE COURSE?  

    You will be provided with a folder of course notes, handouts throughout the course and a resources book called 'The Design Handbook'.

  • HOW CAN I STAY UPDATED ON NEW COURSES ADDED?  

    By request, we can add you to our email mailing list for news, interiors inspiration and invitations from the Coco Republic Design School. Please email us at designschool@cocorepublic.com.au to register. Coco Republic will also post updates on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and you can stay up to date with new course times on our website.

  • HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE THERE IN EACH CLASS?  

    Our courses are capped at a maximum of 18 students for personalised learning.

  • WHAT IF I CAN'T DECIDE WHAT COURSE I SHOULD START WITH FIRST?  

    It is important that you get started with the right course and we can help you determine which is best for your needs by phone or email. In addition, we hold several information sessions throughout the year.

  • WHAT IF I DON'T LIVE IN SYDNEY?  

    We offer comprehensive online courses for flexible study at your own pace anywhere, anytime. Additionally, many of our accelerator students travel from interstate for a one week stay and we would be happy to assist with hotel recommendations. Our accelerator courses offer the content and accreditation of our full courses, condensed into a Monday to Saturday program.

  • IS THERE ANY HOMEWORK?  

    You will be expected to do a nominal amount of homework in order to complete your major project. In our one-week accelerator course we endeavour to make sure assignments are completed in class time however you need to allow 1-2 hours homework each night. For our 7- 9 week courses there will be approximately 4-6 hours homework a week.

  • HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED?  

    For accredited courses, you will be assessed by your teacher via your major project including written tasks, portfolio submission and final presentation.

  • DO YOU OFFER A PAYMENT PLAN?

  • WILL COCO REPUBLIC ASSIST ME IN FINDING WORK OR A JOB AFTER THE COURSE?  

    Our courses are designed to give you the confidence and skillset to undertake a career in the field. Whilst we do not offer employment placements, your teacher will be able to give career advice throughout the course. When available, Coco Republic is also able to offer opportunities to assist on editorial and commercial photoshoots to enhance professional skills.

  • CAN I START AN ONLINE COURSE ANYTIME?  

    Yes. As soon as you have registered and made payment you will be sent a welcome letter and login details so you can get started that very day.

  • I AM AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT, WILL I NEED TO BE VERSED IN ENGLISH?  

    The courses are delivered in English so a good understanding of the English language is required if your course is to be completed successfully. All assignments will be marked in English.

  • HOW DO I ENROL FOR AN ONLINE COURSE?  

    You can pay online with a credit card, by simply clicking onto the Enrol Now link in the course of your choice. You will be directed to your shopping cart to proceed to the checkout. We accept all credit cards.

  • AM I SENT COURSE NOTES OR A BOOK?  

    All information for our online courses is provided digitally and is available to be downloaded as you proceed through each unit. Video tutorials are also available.

  • ARE THERE ASSIGNMENTS OR EXAMS?  

    You will be required to complete assignments and exercises throughout the course to be submitted with your final project at completion to be assessed.

  • HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE THE COURSE?  

    The courses are designed to be self-paced. Whilst it is recommended that students submit work on a regular basis you do have up to 12 months to complete the program.

  • WHAT COMPUTER SKILLS ARE REQUIRED?  

    You will need to have basic computing skills to undertake an online course. You will need access to the following equipment to complete the exercises and projects:
    - Computer with an operating system of Microsoft Windows 98 or MAC OSX or above
    - Microsoft Office 2003 or above
    - Adobe Acrobat Reader
    - Internet access
    - Printer
    - Scanner or Digital Camera
    - Calculator

  • AS AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ARE THE COURSES BASED ON INTERNATIONAL OR AUSTRALIAN DESIGN?  

    They are based on international design and are ideal for both local and overseas students. The Coco Republic Design School has graduates from countries including the US, New Zealand, Singapore, Lebanon, Hong Kong, Malaysia and United Arab Emirates.

  • WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO I NEED BEFORE EMBARKING ON THIS COURSE?  

    There are no minimum entry requirements and no prior formal academic qualifications are required.

  • WHAT ARE THE BASIC MATERIALS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE ONLINE COURSE?  

    All students enrolled in an online course will receive a colour wheel. For the Colour for Interiors online course you will also receive paints, brushes, white Canson paper and grey Canson paper.
    We recommend students also source the following:
    - Glue
    - Double-sided Tape
    - Scissors
    - Stanley Knife
    - Ruler
    - White A4 Paper
    - Magazines or Photographs Depicting Interiors. Note, if you are constructing your portfolio digitally then you will need to access pictures on the internet and Pinterest
    - Paint Chips, Fabric Samples and/or Hardware Samples. Note, these can be collected during the course from hardware stores and fabric shops

  • WHAT SUPPORT IS AVAILABLE FOR ONLINE LEARNING?  

    You will be assigned a dedicated tutor for the duration of your course. Your tutor's role is to assess your assignments and provide you with personal online feedback. You can ask a question to your teacher at any time, regarding your assignments or work, by posting your message in 'Ask a Teacher' on your dashboard. You can also request to chat or share your screen to discuss a question with the teacher. This can be one on one or in a group of students wishing to discuss a topic.

  • HOW QUICKLY WILL MY TUTOR RESPOND?  

    The tutor will respond within 72 hours.

  • CAN I INTERACT WITH OTHER STUDENTS ON MY COURSE?  

    Yes, once enrolled, you will have access to an online discussion forum. Here you can start a discussion, share your thoughts and interact with other like-minded individuals. We also encourage you to join our closed Facebook group where students share their work and projects after the course.

  • ARE ASSIGNMENTS SUBMITTED BY EMAIL?  

    Assignments are uploaded as one or more files directly to your tutor in our online learning portal.

  • CAN I ENROL FOR TWO COURSES AT THE SAME TIME?  

    If you are currently studying a course and wish to enrol in another one you are welcome to do so.

  • WHAT DO I RECEIVE AFTER SIGNING UP FOR THE COURSE?  

    Once you have signed up to an online course, you will be given instant access to our online learning portal with a login and password. You will receive your course pack in the post.

  • WHAT IF I DON'T PASS?  

    If you fail to achieve a pass grade or higher for any of the summative projects, you will be able to rework that project based on the detailed feedback provided by the assessor. In most cases, a failing grade will only be given if an aspect of the project has been missed or is incomplete. If this happens, you will only have to redo that aspect and then resubmit the project. There is no specific deadline for resubmitting so you will have as much time as you need to rework the assessment. You can resubmit any assessment up to two more times.

  • WHAT WILL I RECEIVE UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF MY COURSE?  

    Once you have passed the course you will receive a certificate of achievement from the Coco Republic Design School and a transcript with accreditation from the Design Centre Enmore.
