Good lighting is paramount in any well designed space but funnily enough it is more often than not, a last thought. Good lighting sets the tone for a room, it establishes mood and determines the way one uses the space. Stark overhead down lights create a practical level of lighting for work areas such as kitchens and laundrys.
Textile

The most exciting elements when working on a project are the fabrics and textiles. I love how they can evoke an emotional response. Textiles offer a wonderful opportunity to introduce a more complex layer into a decorative scheme by way of colour, texture and movement. While textiles offer a practical use by protecting us from the elements, they also aesthetically introduce warmth, depth and interest. When used thoughtfully and with imagination, they can convey a personality.
Using Colour

The use of colour can be intimidating for many of us. However, using colour is an Interior Designer’s most dynamic tool, and it’s at your disposal. It is the element that can influence our mood, alter the way we perceive space and convey an immediate sense of drama or tranquility. Fabrics and paint are the simplest, most accessible and inexpensive way to inject colour into your life.
Texture

Texture is more than just a tactile element. It adds dimension and personality to a room and is very useful for conveying a certain theme or style. Interesting combinations of finishes can create an interior that is every bit as interesting as a colourful, patterned one. For example, tonal combinations of polished linens and velvets can provide a wonderful backdrop for a stunning feature piece such as a hammered bronze coffee table with a polished stone or glass top.
