10 Inspired Outdoor Spaces

Most Australians share a love of the indoor-outdoor lifestyle. Embracing the great outdoors, we entertain, dine, relax and play outside almost all year round.

In celebration of the start of yet another spring, I’ve looked at ten marvellous outdoor spaces to inspire any home.

I find that the most appealing outdoor spaces are those that are surrounded by luscious greenery. From abundant tropical ferns bordering a garden to symmetry around the towering canopy of an overgrown tree. Large or small, for some, outdoor spaces are about tranquility whilst for others it’s about entertaining.

If you live in an apartment with a tiny balcony or terrace, it is possible to create magic with your outdoor space even if plants aren’t a part of the plan. Bright colours can lift an otherwise unappealing concrete jungle, and some beautiful hurricane lamps, string lighting, or an oversized outdoor pendant light can make a statement whilst also setting the mood.

Add layers of different textures to the space to create a warm and inviting environment. Treat it like you would the interior of your home. To inject personality into the space, as well as maximum comfort, add luxurious cushions, throws, and rugs. Soon enough you’ll be out there with your favourite book and a glass of wine until the sun goes down.

Think of your purpose and furnish accordingly. Large dining tables with plenty of seating for long lunches or a contemporary modular for lounging in peace and quiet. The new 2016 Outdoor Collection from Coco Republic offers furniture and accessories to withstand the elements and create the perfect retreat or entertainer’s dream space.
