How To, Interior spaces, Trends & Finds

A Buyers Guide to Lighting

Selecting the right decorative lighting for your home is key to creating a space that is both visually intriguing and functional.  I really believe it’s worth spending the time (and sometimes the money) on getting this right, as it’s a crucial element in creating mood and memory, in any interior.

The Lighting Collection from Coco Republic showcases a strong cross section of aesthetics and price points, while always representing quality and leading design – so we’ve taken the hard work out of it for you!

If you’re in the market for an everyday, versatile pendant light, the Avalon Pendant is the best pick of the collection.  It’s a classic Hampton’s style design, that looks great above a round dining table, kitchen counter, or in an entrance.  It will suit your home whether you live in a terrace, coastal home or apartment.  I would suggest having an electrician install this pendant on a dimmer switch and using flame tip candle bulbs as the feature in the open lamp holders, so the pendant creates a soft, glittery ambiance.

If you’re looking for a stand-out chandelier to really fill your space and create a true talking point, you cannot look past the Timothy Oulton Bark Chandelier.  With a nod to art deco design, this large-scale waterfall chandelier features 261 hand-polished prisms of frosted cast glass on a matte brass frame.  There’s nothing else quite like it out there and will be sure to start a conversation.

Table and floor lamps are also integral to creating mood in your home.  These smaller scale elements can accent particular moments in your home (for example highlight a console table and artwork in an entrance) or can work functionally to enhance the way you live (like a bedside table lamp).  The Nina Table Lamp is a versatile small-scale design, created in raw cut white marble.  It’s a simply elegant design, with a contemporary and unique twist.

I’m also a big fan of adding a pair of wall sconces to again add a creative layer, and influence mood.  Try the Crystal Block Wall Sconce on either side of an artwork or mirror above a console or sideboard.

Or even take influence from a New York study, with the Glass Rod Wall Sconce, perfectly designed to be suspended above an artwork to highlight its features when the rest of the room is dimmed.

Come into a Coco Republic store to truly appreciate the quality, scale and design in the Lighting Collection.
