I love this little house. It has an instant natural calm about it as soon as you step inside the front door. There is no hint of the run down, dark and un-loved house that it was. Given a new lease on life, this quaint little terrace is now filled with natural light and feels like a real home again.
Coco Republic Interior Design were fortunate to be asked to assist with the transformation and were given the brief to create a cheerful, light filled, un-cluttered interior where the client could relax and enjoy his time away from his busy corporate life.
Having lived in many sunny, coastal climates before settling in inner city Sydney it was important for the client not to loose his sense of sun and sky, both indoor and outdoor in the garden.
In conjunction with the architect’s inclusion of glass panels spread throughout the house to let in as much light as possible, we started the interior design concept with a calm and simplistic palette that called on natural materials and would allow for gradual layering of furniture over time.
As a contrast to this natural palette we chose a beautiful fountainbleau stone for the kitchen benches and touches of soft blue – the client’s favourite colour.
We also incorporated a classic furniture selection – ensuring all pieces were practical and comfortable as well as aesthetically timeless.
