Trends Of 2018: Abstract Modernism

Abstract expressionism and modernist art appeared to be a key influence behind the accessories on show at Maison et Objet 2018.

My pick of the bunch was the delicately and elegantly executed Stephane Parmentier and GIOBAGNARA
collaboration, featuring abstract modern suede shapes in trays, desk accessories and beautifully touchable sculptural forms.  The collection also showcased furniture designs in rounded mid-century shapes, all in luxuriously soft leather and suede.

Marrakesh based accessories lifestyle brand LRNCE continues to influence, with their North African inspired abstracts textiles and art works.

With minimalist abstraction, the playful and relevant collection features textural wall hangings, ceramics and other pieces that pay homage to local craft and history.

A highlight from luxury homewares brand L’Objet from Los Angeles was their Cubisme collection, featuring sculptural candles, bookends and vessels to accent any stylish home.
