Add an Accent

I’m a sucker for a cute accent – who isn’t?

And no, I’m not talking about an attractive foreigner, I’m talking about accent tables – a bold, side table that creates a statement and adds personality to your home without breaking the bank or being aesthetically over bearing.

The problem we all often face with our living space is that we commonly want comfort and timeless style over something more adventurous.  It means we tend to spend our money on the classic square arm linen sofa instead of the purple contrast button tufted velvet one.  The safe choice can sometimes feel a little dull…

But fear not boring room – an accent table is exactly what you need to have a little fun!

Whether a coffee table or a side table, you can experiment as often the cost will be anywhere from 10% to a quarter of the price of the sofa or dining table.

My tips:

Be Bold

Be as bold as you want to be. Use your favourite colour, or a wacky shape. It doesn’t have to be forever.  Pick something with personality.

Search Out

Go to those places that you really want to shop at and search out your favourite piece. You’ll often be surprised at the cost benefit and it’ll allow you to take home a little something you completely love from that brand, and add that flavor to your home.

Re-Use a Hand Me Down

Grab Grandma’s old federation style side table and paint it a fun colour. It doesn’t have to be the feature in the room. If matched with some more investment pieces it can compliment perfectly.

Be unconventional

Think about whether the size of the table can go somewhere else. Sometimes, one or two side tables can make great coffee tables (if the right height) and other times that large coffee table could fit as a generous side table.
