Elevated Heights: Barstool Envy

Barstools first became a staple in homes in the 1950s when casual entertaining gained momentum. Now, we simply cannot get enough of them – from the simple silhouette of the stool to high back designs with luxe detailing.

A functional must-have in any modern kitchen, barstools are a prolific piece, creating impact and interest in a kitchen space. From the city to the country, the humble barstool is as eye catching in a small apartment as it is in a grand home.

I love the almost sculptural aesthetic when they’re lined up en masse on an island bar under striking pendant lighting.

In the age of open plan living, the allure of the barstool has meant that there is a wide selection of designs in the market. Two of my favourites are the Coco Republic Drexel with beautiful South American aniline leather and Oliver with a contemporary rustic pine timber top with steel frame. Both are available in low and high versions.

You can view the full collection of Coco Republic barstools here.
