East London has a welcome addition to the neighbourhood, Blixen. A charming all-day brasserie, the new hotspot is housed in a former bank building and it’s on my hit list for my next trip back to London.
Retaining the beautiful arch windows of the building, natural light floods in to create an inviting aesthetic that you won’t want to leave.
Blixen is the venture of longtime friends Clive Watson and Justin Gilbert of Coriander Buildings. For the interiors, they drew inspiration from time abroad in the Mediterranean, from textures chosen to the palette selected.
Banquettes in brown leathers and natural timbers, a long walnut cocktail bar and terrazzo tiled flooring fill the space. Raffia lamps and vibrant blue leather booths with wicker detailing sit under a plant covered pergola. It doesn’t stop there with a focus on natural textures, the downstairs bar and lounge area features burnt orange leather seating with sisal-covered walls.
