Interior spaces

Bronte Apartment by JDZ Designs

The focus on the home continues to shift for interior designers; creating seamless spaces for indoor-outdoor living has never been more desirable.

I caught up with Jeanette Del Zio of JDZ Designs to discuss her latest project featured in last month’s Modern Home magazine. The beautiful Bronte Apartment blends the coastal environment harmoniously for a relaxing interior. And the home features some of my favourite pieces from Coco Republic.

Jeanette says, “My client had given two instructions when it came to redesigning the living and dining space.
One was to bring the outside surrounding beach environment inside and two, was not to be traditional in my approach when designing and no nautical elements were allowed.”

She continues, “The focus then became on particular hues of the blue and green that could be found in the vista from the penthouse. The blue combination also worked well with some existing artworks available to display, which together would bring personality and life to what originally was a very dull and lifeless open plan.

“It became about stripping it back, re zoning, structuring new furniture, fixtures and changing the lighting. The client wanted to feel an emotional connection to the space but also be comfortable.

On the selected furnishings, Jeanette comments, “Coco Republic furniture pieces were my first go to, the New Hampton Sofa was perfect in scale but also giving the space that relaxed feel. The flat weave Baker Rugs had just been released and were perfect in bringing the colour palette together as well as adding texture. All fabrics including the Elliot Clark collection for the dining chairs, couch and ottoman were selected from Coco Republic, all custom upholstered to bring my palette and vision for this open plan to life.”
