Did you know T.V Actress Courteney Cox (known best for her roles on the tv sitcoms ‘Friends’ & ‘Cougar Town’) aspired to be an architect before she hit Hollywood? In discovering her beautifully put together Malibu home, her passion and talent for design is obvious.
Collaborating with architect Michael Kovac and interior designer Trip Haenisch, this private mid-century Californian home is an ode to the modern barn. Sitting high on two acres of land, with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, the home includes a tennis court, saltwater swimming pool and guest cottages.
When decorating her home, Cox admits that she looked for things that added character to a room, but remain timeless; pieces that will go with her ever-changing style.
Natural materials like wood and stone combined with contemporary pieces sitting alongside vintage and industrial wares create an eclectic mix of style and sophistication. A controlled neutral palette of black, white and greys with splashes of blues and purples imitates the natural colour scheme of the coastline and the breath-taking ocean views that can be seen from this sensational home.
Paintings and photography seamlessly match the interior but at the same time subtly create interest and character with their quirky and conversational content. My personal favourite is the painting by Harland Miller which is part of his Introspective series. Courtney Cox is photographed standing next to this painting, which resembles the cover of Penguin book titled “I’ve been Down but this is Ridiculous”
There are so many things I admire about this home from the indoor plants in nearly every room, the neutral palette, the art, the sumptuous fabrics, the natural building materials, the timeless furniture and decor and that incredible ocean view. What’s not to love about this little piece of Californian paradise? Enjoy!
