Coco Republic Interior Design was engaged to breathe new life into a home in Sydney’s harbour side suburb, Double Bay.
The potential was there but the property hadn’t been renovated for many years and felt quite closed in, small and dark. With a clever use of space and flow between areas and all new furnishings, the home is now contemporary, luxurious and lively.
Our brief was to open up the spaces and create a sophisticated but low maintenance space. The clients wanted a neutral colour palette of creams and pale greys, but loved gold, so wanted that to feature in each space.
To create an understated feeling of opulence in the small spaces, we used light marble flooring throughout to create the sense of continuity and openness. Different shades and finishes of gold throughout, in both the furnishings and fittings. The beautiful Brodware Tapware created a feeling of richness and quality. The custom made stone vanities also added a nice bespoke touch to the bathrooms. The timber veneer in the kitchen added some warmth to the space, which linked nicely with the Kelly Wearstler Wallpaper and marble coffee tables in the same open plan area.
My favourite room was the master bedroom. It had a stunning custom made velvet bed, with beautiful subtle wallpaper, silk floor rug and feature gold leaf pendants either side of the bed. It had such a lovely feel when standing in the space, whilst being timeless and elegant.
I also loved the feature tile in the master bathroom, in a beautiful brass chevron mosaic. It tied back beautifully with the marble elements in the space.
