L’Horizon Resort and Spa, Palm Springs

In a location known worldwide for its rich iconic heritage, modern mid century architecture, endless blue skies, desert plains, trendy boutiques and timeless Hollywood references, L’Horizon in Palm Springs is a must visit.

Since its creation in the year 1952, by world famous architect William.F.Cody, The L’Horizon Resort and Spa, has undergone a a multi-million dollar re-vamp on behalf of Hollywood designers Steve Hermann. If you are expecting to see oversized crystal chandeliers and typical Palm Spring flamingos, then look elsewhere, as you wont find them at this hotel. Kitsch has been left off the menu.

The interior of this resort and spa channels a simplistic and elegant design aesthetic, combining mid-century modern elements, with an accented masculine colour palette.

Journey with me as I take a look inside the guest rooms of this revamped property and give suggestions on how to achieve this look in your home. Many of the guest rooms feature a mix of bespoke, luxurious furniture with a contemporary classic aesthetic.

The colour palette used with in these spaces is fairly neutral with metallic accents, playing a perfect back drop to the furniture items inhabiting the space. The walls are finished in a white washed effect, showcasing the original brickwork of the building.

Upholstered bed heads are used throughout the space, adding to the intended luxurious aesthetic. The use of timbers, brass and textured linen is used to create this classic contemporary aesthetic.

You can achieve this look at home with the help of Max Sparrow.

The Manhattan Framed Bed in a light oak stain is a perfect feature piece when designing for a luxurious interior. The piece features a light oak finish with matte gold accents.

This can then be partnered with a pair of the Ayres Hide Ottomans positioned at the end of the bed. The gold accents are picked up in these pieces and are complimented by a rich hide in a tanned colour; this colour will complement both the natural qualities of the bed as well as the metallic accents featured across both items.

Position two Argo Square Side Tables beside the bed. The gold accents and glass top will give the feeling of luxury and elegance and will tie back perfectly with the previous furnishings.

Hang feature lighting above each bedside table or cluster them in a corner for a high end impact. The Riad Ball Pendants or Voix Pendants are my top picks. The Voix Pendants have a classic construction, finished in an aluminum which would contrast the neutral colour palette perfectly. Alternatively, the Riad Ball Pendants clustered in groups of three’s add a touch of lust of glamour to any space.

Dress the side tables with candles, books and luscious greenery and dress the bed in a neutral linen, layered with textured throws and duvets, finished with layered cushions for an overall classic contemporary aesthetic.
