Metal Leaf on Trend at Max Sparrow

As you’ve no doubt noticed, metal finishes have been on trend, season in and season out for at least the past year – their luxe appeal adding interest and a hint of opulence to an ordinarily understated room.

The most delicate and ambitious of these finishes is the metal leaf effect.  If you’ve ever tried your hand at applying the fragile and expensive material yourself you’ll testify to the fact that it’s no easy feat.  Applying the leaf by hand requires expertise and a lot of patience.  But the effect is well worth the effort.

So you can imagine my excitement in seeing the latest arrivals from Max Sparrow that come finished in both gold and silver leaf.

All hand applied, each metal leaf finish piece has a subtle, textural quality that sits elegantly in a room without over powering it.  The ribbon-like trim on the St James Round Mirror is a stand-out, along with the striking four-leaf clover shaped pattern inscribed into the silver leaf Copella Table are favourites.  The winning piece from the range however, has to be the elegantly simple Maxwell Chair, finished in burnished silver leaf.

Take a peak at some of the range here and look out for more additions over the coming months.
