As a writer for ‘Fieldies’, I love sharing my inspiration with you from interiors I love, to art and design but I thought it was time to invite you into my home.
Our place is currently featured in the latest issue of the online publication Adore Magazine.
My husband and I came across this original untouched 1979 gem six years ago. There was nothing fancy about this place, it was just a solid brick good family home with an overgrown garden but we could see the potential and we were really excited. We love a challenge and we love the character of old homes and working with what we’ve got and enhancing the best features.
We live here with our two daughters Sana and Arlie, and our dog Hudson. We are a beach loving family so a five minute drive to my hubby’s favourite local surf spot was a big attraction.
We started by installing black butt wood floorboards and squared the arches inside. We got rid of the peaches and cream walls and repainted in crisp white. We got the external walls rendered and the tiled roof replaced with colour bond steel. We recently finished renovations of the laundry and bathrooms and we have also renovated the kitchen. My husband replanted the entire garden himself and only kept a beautiful frangipani tree. He also has an extensive bonsai collection and we have a thriving organic veggie garden.
Our home has a coastal vibe with a touch of scandi and a little boho thrown in. We are not precious at this stage in our lives about the furniture we have chosen because of having young family so everything needs to be robust, cleanable or replaceable. We love breathing life into left for dead pieces. Roadside finds are some of our favourites from the antique chair we have recovered in a Florence Broadhurst Fabric to our 1950’s outdoor chairs we spray painted yellow and our retro twin surfboard which sits out the back. I love combining old with new and layering textures. Apart from interiors, my work is inspired by everything from music, to nature and art.
Black, white, wood, natural greenery and touches of inky and oceans blues are what we love. As well as an interior stylist, I am also an artist so some of my paintings and work adorns our walls.
