Poolside Dreaming

It’s one of the things I notice most about flying over Sydney, coming in to land after an adventure overseas – the surprising amount of blue dots scattered in between suburban homes.  Australia certainly is the lucky country, if we can be judged on how many families grow up with a pool in the back yard.

And now that the daylight hours are dragging on and the sun is back to it’s fiery self, it is truly the time of year that Australians start migrating towards that perfect outdoor space and pool.

Nothing beats a wide expanse of clear blue, positioned perfectly in the lawn, a little overhanging tree to create some dappled sunlight.  Or a contemporary, wet edge pool that disappears into a killer view.  Or even, a tiny little plunge pool, squeezed into an inner city backyard, to escape the heat.
