The Restaurant By The River

A new luxury dining venue has been added to the list of Antwerp’s illustrious food scene; designed by renowned architect Bob Van Reeth and local interior design studio Co. studio, Restaurant Aan de Stroom (RAS), or The Restaurant By The River, is one that is bound to stand out and impress.

Overlooking the River Scheldt in the iconic Zuiderterras Building is the light-filled RAS, boasting original floor to ceiling windows allowing guests to revel in picturesque views whilst feasting on delicious cuisine. The natural stone and walnut interior makes for a very clean and neutral palette, with just the perfect splash of colour in the emerald-green chairs dotted throughout the space. Black glass tables with subtle gold accents add luxe appeal and reflect the natural light that streams through the windows.

Everything about this establishment, from the food to design, is focused on local inspiration. The RAS owners brought on local Antwerp talent, design firm, to rework the interior design scheme within the iconic 90’s building. Boasting over 60 architecture and interior design projects in their homeland and overseas, RAS was definitely in good hands. Young local painting prodigy Rinus Van de Velde was also hired, creating four oversized charcoal drawings specifically designed for the restaurant, which can be seen flanking either side of the restaurant’s large bar.

The refined and elegant aesthetic of this new luxury restaurant, which can seat 130 delighted guests, is the perfect addition to Antwerp – a city with a reputation of being home to some of the world’s best design and cuisine.
