Rated by Conde Nast as one of the best new hotels in the world this year, the Romeo Hotel in Naples overlooks the Amalfi Coast and Capri Island located near the city’s vibrant historic centre. Luxury and bliss are two words that instantly come to mind. A first for the city, this new design hotel reinforces and celebrates the sophisticated pleasures and edgy reputation of Naples. Surprisingly affordable, the Romeo Hotel is a fusion of elegance, eclectic style and modern comfort.
From the street, the hotel shines with impressive and innovative lighting, a design aspect which continues inside. I’m instantly thrilled by the impressive array of contemporary art on display throughout the hotel and excited by the bespoke furniture and décor commissioned by brilliant artisans from around the world. The 85 bedrooms and suites feature exotic woods, glass and black leather. I love the uncompromising nod to high end design, where rooms include leather goods designed by Tramontano, an embroidered linen menu by Caprai and porcelain pieces by Hermes. The hotel is complete with Il Comandante, a must-try restaurant with sophisticated wares designed by Wilfried Moll for Robbe & Berking, who’s pieces are also displayed at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. Executive Chef Salvatore Bianco’s modern Italian cuisine was recently awarded its first Michelin star, so you know it’s a dining experience to remember. This is one for the bucket list.
