Coco Republic Interior Design Presents Upscale Hamptons

Coco Republic Interior Design recently worked with Clarendon Homes to transform their beautifully designed Rosebery display home at the new Willowdale precinct.

The furnishing brief to us was to reflect today’s popular Hamptons aesthetic but with a contemporary, relaxed feel layered and coastal elements.

We introduced a soft colour palette with light grey painted walls, black accents, moulded cornices, shaker style cabinetry with half height v-groove panelling in white used throughout the home. This is far from a cookie cutter display and Clarendon are synonymous with design details that set them apart as a builder.

Furniture pieces selected for the scheme were predominately contemporary in style and shape. Some upholstered furnishings included classic buttoning for the sofas and bedheads. We used both fresh classic floral and stripe fabric patterns mixed with contemporary designs to balance the modern/classic look throughout. Linen, velvets, textured weaves and canvas materials were chosen with additional layers of chunky knit throws to sofas helped to create the relaxed feel with a sophisticated undertone.

We selected the versatile Markson Dining Chairs in custom teal velvet to introduce the ocean colour and enhance the predominately grey/white interiors. The Montara Dining Table was the perfect ‘Hamptons’ centrepiece with the black base and white marble top.

To complement the Chamonix Tufted Sofa, we used two Odessa Bookshelves side by side to create a wall of shelving to help create the library feel in the formal living space. The Axelle Rug balanced the space with its casual elegance. Mumba Occasional Chairs in Driftwood brought the relaxed classic feel to the family room and contrasted well with the blue fabrics and white marble.

Outdoor furnishings included Grey Catalina Occasional Chairs, Wyatt Stools along with the Catalina Outdoor Dining Chairs and the Amalfi Outdoor Dining Table beautifully finished off the ‘Hamptons’ feel in the Alfresco areas.

We custom designed the sheer curtains in the home using matt black hardware with classic box pleat curtain headings and deep contrast fabric hems to bring a further decorative layer to the space.

We used classic wallpapers with modern designs to enhance the interior furnishings. Grass cloths in soft teal blue another in a deep navy geometric design, modern plaid for the boy’s room and also a soft coral stylised pattern to the girl’s room.

Artwork was carefully selected to evoke the coastal ambiance. Black and white photography of sailing boats and lighthouses mixed with contemporary shell coral and ocean images. A number of items were specially sourced and custom framed for this project.

Floral and greenery was used as an important decorating tool to assist the look and feel. For the finishing touches, Coco Republic décor pieces were used throughout from Komodo Shells filled with soft green to Artemis Marble Trays to bathrooms and Apollo Book Ends, Atlanta and Harvest Vases to shelving areas.

The end result is layered, beautifully presented and enhances that ‘homely’ feel. See the full project here.
