The Perfect Desk: My Top Three

As a furniture buyer, my desk at work is surrounded by moodboards of next season’s collections, mail that piles up whilst I’m overseas and subscriptions to the local and international design mags. My home office in comparison is a sanctuary – ordered and stylishly minimalist. A reflection of my interior scheme.

The latest buying trip had me thinking about my perfect desk. About texture, material, design, function and scale. So I bring you my top three from Max Sparrow and Coco Republic, to inspire you to transform your cluttered desk into a delightfully chic office space.

Gone are the days of desk-shelving combos; now it’s all about a streamlined clean aesthetic. The clean lines of Max Sparrow’s Manhattan Dark Oak Desk offer a sleek and sophisticated design. Whilst uncompromising on functionality, rich brown suede lines the outer drawers that are fitted with partitions and tailored desk accouterments. Dark horn and matte gold hardware adorn the drawers for a subtle touch of luxury.

The oversized Coco Republic Toledo Desk is a standout piece for any study. I may be a little bias having designed this piece with a furniture maker myself. Bound to inspire bright ideas, the Toledo provides an on-trend marble accent in the form of a compact set of drawers, combined with a contemporary teak frame. With a 10mm glass top, there aren’t many interiors that this desk wouldn’t complement.

Last but not least, I could hardly compile a top three without Jonathan Adler. The Jacques Desk offers major presence with a size that would work with both small and larger offices. Lucite, brass and top stitched leather are the perfect trio; lucite legs balance brass bolts for interest, complete with tan leather drawers and top. Like the rest of Jonathan Adler’s Jacques collection, the Jacques Desk creates a bold balance of masculine lines and feminine finishes.
