My most recent return to the motherland took me to the fabulous Hotel Missoni in Edinburgh, the debut of a series of Missoni Hotels. A lively injection of colour into an otherwise dark, dank winter in the heart of “The Burgh’s” historic city centre.
The luxury fashion house, Missoni has seamlessly translated into interiors and throwing two fingers to ghastly tartan, Missoni kilt-clad staff members greet you at the entrance. The hotel is brimming with the trademark Missoni aesthetic; dramatic colours, bold patterning, fine textiles and a vibrancy that would give the Edinburgh Tattoo a run for its money. The application of Missoni key notes could not be executed more elegantly.
Definitely worth a visit and if not to stay a night or two then for a G&T in the lavish bar, high tea fit for the Queen herself or a meal in the Cucina Missoni Restaurant upstairs. Head Chef Mattia Camorani protégé of Italian chef Giorio Locatelli rocks out some seriously scrumptious Italian dishes and not a haggis in sight! The Barolo & Castelmagno cheese risotto is to die for and made even better being served on Missoni’s own homeware range.
The best advice I have to offer from a Scot now living in Sydney- visit in Summer!
