Where Design Meets Nature: The Retreat At Blue Lagoon Iceland

On April 1st 2018, The Retreat at Blue Lagoon Iceland opened its doors for the first time to guests.  Located in the heart of an 800-year-old, moss-covered lava flow, The Retreat encompasses an astonishing underground spa, a restaurant that reinvents Iceland’s culinary heritage, and 62 elegant guest suites encircled by the waters of the Blue Lagoon.

The simple yet elegant design was inspired by the serene blue waters and multi-colored lava that lie beyond The Retreat, creating a harmonious and luxurious aesthetic.

The Suites

Built into the volcanic frontier and encircled by the Blue Lagoon’s mineral-rich waters, the suites of The Retreat offer floor-to-ceiling windows, terraces that are surrounded by the radiant geothermal waters, and balconies that provide unforgettable perspectives of the volcanic horizon.

The Spa

Carved into an 800-year-old lava flow, the spa brings you into harmony with nature and the timeless powers of the Blue Lagoon’s revitalising waters.

Moss Restaurant

With an atmosphere of sophisticated fine dining and a breathtaking view of the volcanic horizon, the restaurant also features a chef’s table and a wine cellar deep in the centuries-old lava.

The Lounge within the restaurant offer a stunning view of the lava landscape, and an expansive balcony from which to observe Iceland’s celestial, solar and volcanic phenomena.
