Modernist Meets Coastal At The Dorset

A project spanning two years, Coco Republic Interior Design is delighted to reveal Brisbane’s latest apartment development, The Dorset, by Cloud10Property.

In close collaboration with the developer and architect, Coco Republic Interior Design worked on the kitchen and bathroom fit outs as well as finishes and furnishings. A scheme that resonates with modernism but exudes a contemporary coastal aesthetic; perfectly tailored to the Queensland homeowner.

The brief was to create spacious and luxurious residences that fuse the convenience of apartment living with the valued features of a stand alone house. The Dorset certainly delivers on the brief. Generous bedrooms, oversized kitchens and large master suites throughout the interiors complement fantastic outdoor spaces for the modern lifestyle.

The interiors were critical to the feeling of space and luxury of the apartments. Timber paneling was inspired by the local Eucalyptus trees and in line with the Queenslander style. Each detail mirrors the natural surrounds of Ashgrove, enhancing an aesthetically balanced outlook that adds an extra layer of size and grandeur to each apartment.

A dark and a light kitchen option was produced for purchasers to select from. The inspiration behind the materiality selections and design for the kitchen and supplementary joinery throughout, ultimately was to not compromise on luxury. Beautiful wide plank timber flooring throughout the development complements both the light and dark kitchen schemes. Gloss and matt finishes allow the tinted mirror back splash to reflect the space and allow for light. Inclusions of high end appliances add to the opulence and the apartments include large practical island kitchen benches that you would expect in a modern family home.

The inspiration behind bathroom materiality selections and design was to provide two different finishes schemes to clients to select from. Tapware and door hardware was specified in a gunmetal finish, which compliments the wall to wall moody grey tiles to the bathrooms. The ensuite proudly boasts a double basin to the vanity, whilst the smoky black bathroom feature tiles were chosen for their simplicity and timeless elegance.

The Dorset’s building design has modernist light, fine linear detailing. By layering different textures and adding statement elements within the apartment, Coco Republic Interior Design was able to deliver a real sense of home.

Indoor – outdoor flow was maximised by carrying these lines into the interior and joinery detailing, with the aim to emphasis a sense of calm and refuge through a restrained, neutral palette. Tones reminiscent of surrounding trees: whites, light greys, charcoals, linen and pebble tones, contrasted with the sharpness of black.

The Dorset by Cloud10Property features 14 beautifully presented apartments, set over three levels.
