Introducing Marsala: Pantone 2015 Colour of the Year

A chic burgundy hue, the colour experts at Pantone have debuted their 2015 Colour of Year as the strong and warm, marsala.

Described by Pantone as a “naturally robust and earthy red wine”, the rich shade exudes elegance and style.  Application of marsala in interiors offers a regal and luxurious aesthetic.

When I think of marsala, I think of shades of deep orchids and bold berries. The colour works well with charcoal grey, beiges and soft sandy tones or for a striking approach add with accents of teal or navy.  A scheme which incorporates marsala is classic, sophisticated and timeless despite it being an on-trend colour.

I love marsala paired with gold décor pieces such as a coated candle or vase and accents rather an all over look. A beautiful occasional chair in a rich velvet upholstery or waves of the colour in a statement artwork. With neutral furnishings in a larger room, try painting a feature wall in the deep hue.

Whilst this colour isn’t for everyone, it can have striking results at home.
