Places & Faces

A South Hampton Home, by Christopher Maya

Christopher Maya’s designs hold timeless appeal. His work is tailored and historically referenced with understated elegance.  Based in NYC, his work has an all-American flair that has playful appeal

One of my favourite projects of his is the incredible South Hamptons home of Christopher Burch, which combines classically designed furniture pieces, with bright, bold pop colours to great effect.  The design makes it clear that Burch has quirky, eccentric taste, but at the same time still gives the over all effect of a liveable, summer cottage home.  The colours, furniture pieces and décor are all integrated perfectly to create a polished home, which feels comfortable and inviting.

The strongest room, in my opinion, is actually the study nook in all blue and white.  The space combines bright colours with contemporary furniture – like a clear lucite shelving unit – with natural curiosities – like over-sized white coral pieces.   There are so many different elements at work here, but they all come together in perfect harmony.
