The Brain Escape

There is nothing more frustrating than when that little light bulb  idea goes off in the middle of your busy week – right when it’s the last thing in the world you have time to think about.  You tell yourself you’ll come back to it, you scribble it down on a scrap piece of paper, but you never really find that quiet time, that space to yourself to pick up the thread.

Now imagine if you had a private escape, a sanctuary for your brain, a creative oasis – what indulgence!

The Brain by Olson Kundig Architects, is a 14,280 cubic-foot cinematic laboratory designed especially for this purpose.  The client, a filmmaker, resides here while nutting out ideas, the strong cast-in-place concrete structure providing the perfect neutral background for creativity.  Amusingly, the concept for this unique space was modeled on that ultimate suburban quiet place and birthplace of invention – the garage.
