A classicist, perfectionist and true Parisian, Azzedine Alaia latest foray into interior design is something to behold. A traditional atelier and couturier by trade, Alaia’s minimalist approach to design has been translated into an interior that is both elegant in it’s simplicity and surprising in it’s detail.
Within the bones of a 17th century building in the trendy Marais district in Paris, the 300sqm loft has been neatly divided into three fully equipped hotel apartments. Each apartment serves as a complete home away from home, a design sanctuary of the weary traveler and a true insight into the Parisian way of life.
Furniture and lighting have been selected from some of Alaia’s favourites such as Jean Prouve, Marc Newson, Arne Jacobsen, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Paulin and Andre Sornay. There is hardly an artwork or decorative object to be seen – nothing but space and design. Against the stark white walls and concrete floors, the furniture within appears individually important, leaving room for a clear and inspired mind.
